SLACK KEY GUITAR
THE ARTISTRY OF JEFF PETERSON
"The Artistry of Jeff Peterson...impeccable, his style exquisite; the CD is perfection. Peterson is among the best of the new breed of ki ho'alu kingpins" - Honolulu Advertiser 10/2006
JEFF PETERSON has emerged as a leader among a new generation of slack key guitarists - his signature slack key style combines his innovative technique with traditional slack key guitar. Jeff was featured on Hawaii's first GRAMMY Award-winning CD (Slack Key Guitar Volume 2, Palm Records), and "The Artistry of Jeff Peterson" illustrates Jeff's diverse musical influences, from his paniolo roots as a child on Maui to the modern guitar techniques he has mastered.
Peterson began his career teaching classical guitar at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He performs extensively throughout the state of Hawaii and tours Japan and the mainland U.S. He currently lives in Honolulu with his wife, Kahealani.
"The Artistry of Jeff Peterson" was recorded at Lava Tracks Recording Studio (www.lavatracks.com ) in Kamuela, the ranching region where ki ho’alu (slack key guitar) originated. It was produced, mixed, mastered and engineered by GRAMMY Award winning producer Charles Michael Brotman. Peterson used a Taylor model 714-CE steel string guitar and a 1999 Gioachino Giussani classical guitar.
