Deeper Blue shows Kohala's evolution since the release of their first self-titled CD. Island life continues to serve as a foundation and inspiration for the three members of this Big Island acoustic guitar trio: GRAMMY® Award-winning Charles Michael Brotman, Charlie Recaido (who performed solo tracks on the GRAMMY® Award Slack Key Guitar Vol 2 album), and newest member, Rupert Tripp, Jr. 

The trio writes more of their own compositions on this release. Their structure stays basically the same with Brotman playing the melody on nylon strings in a classical-style, and with Recaido and Tripp's unique chordal texture and exquisite finger style on steel strings. Their instrumental acoustic sound continues to blend genres of island, folk and jazz.
